Indeed, my understanding of the school environment - combined with my years working with companies and my experience as a psychotherapist - enables me to provide insightful analysis, constructive feedback and practical support of the highest quality.

For school leadership teams and school boards I offer an applied programme from the services listed on the ‘working with companies’ page. I specialise in providing professional services to head teachers and their staff.

I maintain up to date enhanced clearance from the Criminal Records Bureau and I receive regular updates on child protection legislation.

I have worked in primary and secondary schools, acting as a clinical consultant on a pilot study into Behaviour and Attendance across the London Borough of Merton. This research fed into to the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) programme which I helped to develop and which was launched nationally in 2006. For that project, I worked with pupils, parents and teachers, both individually and in small groups.

My experience as a Mental Health worker visiting schools and piloting SEAL gave me a solid grounding in the systems, processes, legislation and politics of schools. As a consequence I have a deep understanding of the pressures and responsibility on school staff, which gives me a unique advantage over many other consultants.

“Martin undertook a key role in a new way of working across education psychology and child and adolescent mental health work. This pilot built effective relationships and common methods of work and evaluation across the two services and in primary schools where it was based. This work was very successful and is now being mainstreamed across primary schools.”
